So after 40+ years of sitting in the UV both my Schaefer jib blocks disintegrated. Can't say that I blame them, but why did they have to fail in the middle of day 1 of this year's Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta?

Decided to replace them with the E-Z Glide Adjustable Genoa Car E-Z G-1UB

I have had the EZ Glide on my boat for at least 15 years. Love it.

Don’t you know? Boats always wait till you have a planned adventure, usually on a weekend after all the chandler’s have closed to cry out. “I’m failed “.

It is in their nature.

Do you think those can be repaired with new sheaves by drilling out the rivet and replacing with a pin or bolt? The rest of it is metal and unless it is fractured should be good for another 40.

I tried repairing my Schaefer headsail furling blocks, but was having no success getting the axle pin out. Probably could of had more success with a drill press. Not so confident that a DIY repair of a block with high loads would be successful.

Getting my ez glides tomorrow :)

My jib tracks are 10 feet long so planning on getting 100 ft of 5/16 (8mm) line. Any suggestions?
