Galveston Rendezvous Brief

To All,

I would like to thank all of the captains and crew who attended the
Galveston Rendezvous. It was GREAT.

Special thanks to Carol and John of Southern Comfort II for the
wonderfull boiled shrimp and to Ezabella and Emil of Anguilla for
the fantastic texas style chile.

Mishaps ?????? Yes. Two that I know of. Charles of the Yellow Rose
lost an anchor and blew out a jib on the way to Galveston (it got a
bit rough)and I ran aground on the way back home. No damage done to
Moondance but my pride took a little beating.

Also there was WILD MAN Paul on Overture. As we motor sailed,
beating into the wind toward Galveston, we noticed Paul and his crew
tacking back and forth across the channel at 35 to 40 degrees of
heel.
I radioed and asked if everything was OK? He said things were great
and he was just putting Overture through her steps, trying her out.
The channel is bordered on each side by spoil areas and oyster beds
but with a 3ft. 10in. draft and heeled that far over he had no
problems and came into Galveston only a half hour behind me.

I took a few pictures but lost them when I tried to download them to
the computer. However other members did get pictures and will be
contacting Chuck.

I had a great time and look forward to the next GALVESTON RENDEZVOUS
and again meeting all who were involved because they are the reason
it was so special.

We were worrried that there was not going to be enough for all.
