The teak around the galley is very tired looking (see pic), scratched and discolored from much use. Is there any method or restoring without replacing please?

Restoring your teak

Teak is a beautiful wood which responds very well to some care. You can purchase the Teak Restoration kits which contain the cleaner/brightener in 2 stages. If the grain is raised too much so as to be rough, a light sanding will remedy that. Once clean and smooth, 2 or 3 coats of teak oil should restore the appearance. I have a Hunter 31 and to give credit where credit is due, my crew completely redid all the teak below deck this year using the same method. I also cleaned up the teak on the exterior and did it with Cetol which did a beautiful job. Good luck.

Same as Mine

Your teak looks just like mine. I would like to clean mine up too but I question if one can refinish it and make it match.

Takes a Little Work

All it takes is a little time and TLC (and maybe some elbow grease). Take your teak off, sand it down, and give it one (or several coats, according to your taste) of Dalys SeaFin Teak Oil. Light sanding between coats might be required. The more coats, the more it shines. Put your teak back on and it'll look like new. Sometimes the teak doesn't even have to be taken off if you can sand it down where it is. I found Dalys SeaFin Teak Oil in West Marine. To me, refinishing my own teak is fun and gratifying. You know, looks pretty good in the pic, but

a little sanding, little cetol or varnish and a nice rainy day with nothing better to do will work wonders.

Daly's Seafin

I used the Daly's on my Hunter 28. Made the interior look like brand new. I have a post of the Profin that I used on the sole. Link attached. Hunter used this from the factory, so it is the only thing you should use over the old finish. If you want some more info, email me @ terrance.maloney@cpships.com.
