My current sink drain has been modified to flow into a manual guzzler pump and water exit from the side near the hull to deck joint. the original drain thru hull has been capped off. I can understand the safety issue of having the outlet high on the side but manually pumping is unfavorable. Besides that, there is lots of extra drain pipe going everywhere. I would like to hook the old system back up and have a clean installation. Problem is, I have never seen one. Is there a P trap, or just a straight pipe to the thru hull from the sink drain? Are there bronze reducer fittings for the sea cock with hose clamps? I could do this on my own either way but am looking for seasoned advice in case I have overlooked something. Pictures are worth a thousand words...Cheers.

Straight without a P trap. There are reducers available in every size you may need.The only reason to use a pump for the sink drain is if you have a boat where the sink is below the waterline - I have seen a few.

Hello Tim,I have added a couple of photos on the folder Albin Vega 3339 Spray, showing the sink-thru hull connection. Not sure what you mean by capped off. Lyric has a straight but short run to a 1 1/4" ball valve. The original valve was a gate valve. Don't forget to attach bungs (tapered wooden plugs)to all the valves. Marco, The Guzzler drain system was on Shiva when I got her, I also thought it would be better to replumb the old drain, tried it and it would only drain when the boat was moving and then not very well. Howard

Hello Howard,I lived on board of my Vega for about 8 months (during summertime) since I purchased her in 2011. I used the sink regularly and did not have draining problems. I changed all underwater thu-hulls and respective valves upon advice of the technician who helped me in upgrading my boat but all the parts were still in good conditions. The Vega series III has the interior furniture a few cm higher than previous models but I do not think this makes a difference for draining. Maybe a problem (bottleneck) at the level of the old thru-hull valve?marco From: "Howard Barbour sailshiva@...
