Galley sink leak?

We have a 2004 Hunter 33. The cabinet under the galley sink smells musky and we suspect that water on the counter is leaking in the undermount sink. We have tried sealing the joint between the counter and the sink but it still seems to smell. We also see water seeping out around the corner of the counter when the boat tilts. Just wondering if other Hunter 33 have the same issues and how it is solved?

Thanks.

gally sink leak

Some things to check. If you pull up the bottom panel under your sink, you should expose the thru hull for the sink drain. (Get in the habit of exercising it regularly or it will freeze up on you). Run the lines backwards from there and make sure the thru hull is sound including the clamps in the drain lines from your sink down. Also check the connections to your water tap, both hot and cold. If you hear your water pump cycling with all valves closed you may have a leak there. Finally, check the drain from your frig/freezer. It goes to the bilge in that area. The line may have parted some how. Interesting that you are seeing water when you are healing. How full is your bilge normally?

Best of luck.

galley sink thru-hull

All the thru-hulls are at the base of the stairs. I doubt the smell is from that, but could be from the bilge itlself? How dry is your bilge.

Check the pipe clamps on the drain hose attached to the sink drain. Mine were loose and were leaking into the shelf in the cabinet below the sink. Water on the counter could be from the taps themselves. I've noticed that the tap tends to run a little even after they are shut off. If you have the starboard cover in place over the sink the water will run off and onto the counter. Try lining up the tap with the cut-out on the corner of the cover.

Hope this makes sense.
