When I bought my Hunter someone had replaced the original equipment with a electric cook top, non-marine and a microwave. This won't be a problem while on shore power other than the risk of a pot spilling if some body kicks up a wake or rough weather but at anchor its all useless.

Would love to see a picture of what the Galley on 77 Hunter 30 would have looked like.

Hate the idea of buying a new stove at about 1/3 the price of my new old boat. Any thoughts always appreciated.

I have a '79 h30 and if I can add the pic below, you'll see the galley w/ an Origo two burner stove covered by a cutting board, above a microwave oven in the place of the original pressurized alchohol Kenyon stove/oven.
I doubt that any other owners of our 30 year old +/- classics still have that original Kenyon stove... they simply did not work.
So, you could keep the microwave and replace the elec. cooktop with an Origo as I did. It works great.

Your galley is very similar to my H37C. I have the exact stove mentioned sitting in my garage. I also have a two-burner Origo but it sits on top of a 110v dorm fridge. That, by the way, is very efficient. It draws about nine amps but for only 20 minutes per hour. Let me know if you want to make your galley original with that stove.

My 83 H30 is almost the same as the 79, but doesn't have an oven, just a two burner origo and some storage.

Why would you say the Kenyon stove does not work. I have one in my Hunter '77-30' and it works perfectly. Alcohol is so much safer than propane and does not use precious battery amps as a microwave does. You can buy alcohol at any hardware store too. The stove also heats the cabin on cold days. Most people were afraid of the Kenyon stove because they did not learn how to start them correctly. They only flare up when the burners are not pre-heated correctly

Ed, can I trade something for that stove? I have a big piece of teak.

Rad, as a live-aboard, I tried to cook with the oven for two years.
The stove top worked OK, but the oven never cooked meat, so it had to go.
You will note that I currently am using an Origo alcohol stove, which works great both to cook and to heat.
