I have a 1973 Ericson 29 with a galley icebox which has a leaking drain hose. The attachment of the drain hose to the drain fitting under the icebox is completely inaccessable from underneath. Does anyone know how to remove the fitting from the icebox? Is it just glued in? Is there a screw fitting under the icebox into which the top piece is screwed? The drain hole is about 1" (maybe less) in diameter. There is a single cross bar across the hole to prevent stuff from falling through. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

cut hole for access

Ken, I have a E27 that I repaired the icebox drain. If yours is anything like mine the drain is just aft of a bulkhead. Locate the drains position verticaly and cut a hole for a 6" plasic deck plate in the bulkhead. Chip away at the foam insulation around the drain fitting. Yes there should be a retaining nut holding the fitting in the bottom of the icebox. Replace with a plastic thruhull fitting and re-plumb. Install deck plate for future access. Good luck. PS: What ever you use to cut the hole in the bulkhead be carefull not to damage the icebox itself. I used a 6" hole saw with a 90 degree drill. Doug
