galley gone

I recently acquired a 1976 Catalina 22 that I am restoring. I have been able to find most of the things I want for it, but one of the things I have not been able to even find a word about is the galley unit with the sink and ice chest in it. I know it was an option and I have seen pictures of them but have not seen anywhere that they are available...even on e-bay. I have also heard there are replacements available for the teak trim around the cabin hatch and the rails on top of the cabin. I've seen where people have replaced these with wood and with nylon (or some type of plastic) parts, but have not been able to find any one selling any of these items. I know that the design has changed very little and am sure there must be parts available for the multitude of these vessels out there, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Catalina Direct is a third party retailer of Catalina parts. They specialize on the smaller Catalina models (22, 25). They have all the items you mentioned. The best thing to do is order their manual/parts catalog. It will be a valuable resource for you as you work on your boat. You can also get the parts from Catalina Yachts, but they tend to be a little more pricey than Catalina Direct. Regards, Ted

galley

Dan................. IMHO the original sliding galley is to a great degree....... mostly wasted space. The "ice box" has no provision for draining and the "water reservoir" is a breeding place for bacteria (better to bring your own water on board or bring a jug of the store bought stuff). Now having said that.......... I still use mine...but not for it;s intended purpose. I still use the platform for my Coleman stove.... but I use the "ice box" for storing pots/pans/dishes. The sliding drawer is handy for kitchen utensils. I have the blueprint for the original galley plans..... if you wanted to construct something yourself..... email me off list and I will send them to you. Buying a galley and having it shipped to you would cost big $$. kennybc22@yahoo.com
