We were out sailing in Desolation Sound BC, and my wife commented that the rug in front of the sink was damp - and asked if that would be cause for alarm. - Yes - but it turned out to ONLY be a small dribbling leak from the original albin foot pump.

I disconnected the water pipe at the tank end (easiest!) and have just been using the fresh water pump in the head for drinking water.

Options:

Find a replacement kit for "innards" - valves / seals / etc.
Find someone with a complete, functioning pump for sale
Install a "plug-and-play" substitute for the foot-pump.
Install a fancy "power" pump - a 12-volt power model,

I'm open to recommendations or comments.

Bought a Whale foot pump as replacement when my original failed.
It pumps on the up & on the down stroke.

Highly recommended.

I have one on my Vega the previous owner drained the water tank but did
not pump alcohol through the system. The pump had frozen and so had the
saltwater pump. I replaced them so be careful with that. they are not
cheap. Also had to replace the head! Doug

I'd go with the Whale pump as well ... the 12v pump is an extra "temptation" to overuse H20 ... I think Perko or ? makes a nice brass plunger-type spigot/pump combination as well. I also valved the lines at the tank ... as the previous owner had the foot pump fail and drain the tank while he was underway.
All the best ....
FYI: Did you go to the Vega Rdvu. at Thetis??
