The electrical outlet in the galley is not working. The other outlets both have those little reset switches (yes I know not a technical term) - and this one does not. I wondered if maybe the reset switch is located somewhere else. Seems odd that the one in the galley would not have one. Any ideas? Thanks, Mary

GFI

depending on where the GFI is located, it can trip all outlets on that branch, not just that individual one

Get an electrical diagram for your boat.

I would suspect your boat could have more than three outlest. Only 1 GIF switch per branch is necessary, so I would look for perhaps a hidden outlet or switch. Just work your way following the line back to the breaker and you should run into it. Not all GIF switches have outlets and may be connected to an appliance. There is always the posibility that the outlet itself has failed. You may check to see if the wires are delivering power. If you are not technically inclined perhaps you should not fool around with electricity and hire an electrician.

Find a little red switch

on another outlet that has tripped. It is legal to wire several non GFI breakers (no red thingy) off of a single GFI breaker (red thingy on outlet). Its a series circuit so, all outlets downstream will have no power if the GFI trips. The outlet you have no power on may get its source from an outlet that has tripped.

Mary....First thing to do is unplug

your boat from shore power. Unscrew the plate and the plug of each receptacle (plug) and make sure all wires are still connected to the respective positions. One of the working receptacles will serve as the correct wiring model. If all the wires are correct you might try replacing the receptacle in the galley. That is probably the most used and may be worn out. If that doesn't work the wire may have been severed somewhere and the problem more difficult to find. 110 volt wiring on boats is the same as basic house wiring. Remember Always Unplug Shore Power First. Peace
