FW: [AlbinVega] Mast problems...

Hi Nik, great pictures (there's loads of space for these still left)

The clamp (at least om my '72 original Procter mast) is blind-rivetted (I
hope that I use the correct terminology here, English isn't my first
language either)
It could be that either the holes in the mast or the rivets themselves have
corroded away (electrolysis between two metaltypes) Why don't you check kow
the other clamps are mounted to the mast. With these kind of mountings
there should always be an insulation paste between the various parts.

The toilet is pretty easy: on top of the pump is a lever flush/dry. With the
lever in flush position you pump out the content AND pump water round. With
"dry"you just empty the toilet, i.e. pump it dry. Always start with "flush"
and make sure that there is already some water in the toilet before you
start testing this with a big thurd inside, otherwise it might come back :)
I saw on you pictures that there is also a small holding tank behind the
toilet... pretty neat arrangement (at this moment we just pump everything
overboard and don't use the toilet when we're inside a harbour) I have
replaced the original toilet (same as you have now) this winter with a new
one as the bottom part (which is pretty green on yours) started to corrode
through and the pump broke down twice. I think you can still buy some parts
for these by the way. I'd suggest to keep your thru-hull valves closed when
the toilet is not in use :)

p.s. I saw on you photo's (int_4 and int_5) that your deck is little
compressed under the mast loads, I suggest you make this arrangement a
little stronger over next winter.

Best regards from Holland
