Has anyone out there replaced the short wire rope topping lift with a full length(masthead)assy? Also looking for ideas on supporting the mast while trailering. Not real happy with lashing it to the bow pulpit and supporting it with a throwable cushion. Jim

mind the boom

jim, I have an O'day twenty-two,and it does have a topping lift. If it didn't, I think I would spring for a lazy -jack system and kill two birds with one stone!

Not sure about your pulpit support, but I have in addition to pulpit with carpet piece, a regular 2 x 4 assembly on the transom gudgeons, and a short homemade 2 x 4 crutch from the tabernacle. The three supports kept my Mariner mast and boom secure from Florida to Virginia. Hope this helps.

John, Thanks for the idea on the lazy-jack. For financial reasons, I think I well go with the topping lift. Thanks, Jim

Mast supports

Wayne, Your idea is great....... I did some hunting the other day on the web and found a web site called "Trailer Sailers". There was an article about mast raising and thats where I found what you described. I well let you know how it turns out. Thanks again, Jim
