I want to replace the fuse panel with a breaker panel but there seems to be nothing that you can just pop into the old hinged ,fold out, frame.Does any one know of a easy solution? Everything I have found so far is larger in one direction or the other. It is a 1986 producion

Hi John - I'm not aware of a "plug and play" solution; looks like you'll need to have a panel custom made. I have never used products from this company myself, but I've heard good things about panel from Blue Sea - see link below. Best of luck - let us know how you make out! Trevor

I called Seaward last year and gave them te measurements of the panel and e-mailed them pics of what was there. They sent me back a blue print design via e-mail and a price that was hard to beat...Thay make the panels for the current production line of Catalina's. I also have an 86 vintage 36!!! I did this project over the winter.
John, I replaced my old fuse panel on my '86 C-36 with four panels from Paneltronics. All I had to do was drill four new screw holes to line up with the teak frame. They sell some panels that are 5 1/2 W by 8 1/4 H that fit into the teak frame very nicely. I did order a custom frame, but got the measurements wrong (and wasted the money). But the original teak frame looks better anyways. The only issue that I have is there is a gap in the center of the panel where the lock is that is not covered by a panel. You could probably order a blank to fit that space, though. It is probably 1/2 inch wide. I needed to relocate my Link 10 monitor to another space, but that was pretty easy as well. I ordered two 2306 DC panels, one 2305 AC panel, and one 2201 Battery switch panel. I got the Premier line so that I could have the backlit labels and LED indicators. Total was about a boat buck including about $400 for the unneeded frame. Anyone need a metal frame?
The only thing I have left to do is rewire all the circuits. Other than that, my electrical system is basically all new. Enjoy the project. I learned a lot doing this. Les Murray s/v Ceilidh '86 C-36 #560
