I got an Oday 22' and some of the parts are missing for the furling jib - need some info and maybe a new furling as the installation instructions imply that this system is for a smaller boat. Can I get a reefing furler for this boat?

Al - What furler do you have now? It would help us direct you to the right resource. As far as a reefing furler, there are several furlers that will work. First, what's wrong with what you have? If you want to replace it my preference would be for CDI. Your boat would probably take an FF4. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Reefer

Hi, I have a CDI reefer product on my 22. It's a bit old but parts are still available from a place in New England. The reefer is good to have although the sail I have on it is old and soft. Given the light displacement of the O'Day 22, the ability to reef down your sail from the cockpit is a plus, especially if single handed. My CDI reefer has a single line running aft to the cockpit to reel the sail in. To haul the sail out, you release the haul -in line and pull on one of the head sail sheets to roll out the sail. I find that the reel-in line gets tangled and jambs easily (may need an new one I guess) when pulling the sail out. But it certainly has worth when sailing solo. If you need the exact make and model number, please feel free to contact me. mitshu@juno.com Happy sailing Stu Timm "Karakahl" 1979 O'Day 22 centerboard
