I am wanting to purchase a furling system for my Oday25. I have browsed the catalogs but my boat seams to be in the middle as far as products go. I was wondering which system was a good fit at a reasonable price.SD-

Harken

We added a furling system last year. We went with a Harken Unit 0. The Unit 00 would have also worked, but the Unit 0 was a bit beefier. We don't mind sailing when the weather gets a bit on the rough side, so we wanted the extra piece of mind. If you tend to only go out in calm conditions, you could consider the 00.Once installed, the Unit 0 ran us around $1400 from pyacht.com. This kit included everything but the sail.I believe the Unit 00 will run around $850 for the kit.We did the installation ourselves which also saved us some $$$, making it easier to justify the more expensive unit. Assembly was not too difficult, but just make sure you measure your headstay correctly. CDI

I put the CDI FF4 on my Oday 23. I think it would also fit on the Oday 25. I liked that I didn't need to buy a new headstay and that no upper swivel unit was necessary. Two seasons of use, and no problems whatsoever. I bought the unit for about $550. Turns out that my sailmaker is a CDI dealer, and he matched the lowest price I could find on the internet. I had him put the thing together for me as well as adapting my jib for the unit; because he was the sole source of the work, I got a good price for everything together. The cost of the unit, assembly and sailwork was less than $800 total. I installed the unit on the boat myself (with a little help from the yardworkers).
