Furling Main

In a furling main is it possible for the sailto fly closer to the boom. It appears there is agap as a result of no boom slides are present.

Waldo; You can close that gap by tightening the outhaul line. Does your boom have a black band around the end to show where the car should be? For medium and heavy air, the foot of the sail should be winched tight. For light air, slack the outhaul slightly to allow the sail to belly out a bit.
