Congratulations on your new H44 sailboat!!.........What is the function of this grey ring please?
Thanks. Great information!Congratulations on your new H44 sailboat!!
The Selden boom outhaul doughnut part number 319-723 (page 11 of the manual attached) is there to protect the top of the boom, and to avoid the outhaul clew of the furling mainsail to be pulled down onto the top of the boom and scratch and cause damage.
My doughnut cracked last year after 15 years so purchased a new one from a Selden dealer (local rigger). To replace it, attach a tag line at the end of the outhaul in the cockpit and pull it through, replace it, pull the tag line through back to the cockpit and remove the tag line. I would NOT substitute the Selden doughnut for another as it will not fit up the same. I learned that lesson when my local rigger sold me one of his vs. the Selden part and I had to do this process twice. Another dealer supplied the correct part.
