Just thougth I'd pass along a little trick on removing the main furling drum that jams part way out. This jam is a result of cross feeding your furling rope, and the backing plate get's bent out of shape.
Insert a large flat blade screwdriver in the lower left side of the drum, between the mast and aluminuim frame. Push it all the way in to release the backplate from hanging up on the mast. Now it should be released.
As others have mentioned, dissassemble the unit over a bucket as the bearing will drop apart (like a bicycle bearings), clean with varsol, and I am using winch grease to hold them together for reassembly.
I will be upgradeding the backing plate from 2 srews to 6 screws, after I bend it back into position.
My unit was caked with grease and dirt very stiff and messy - now clean and ready for reassebly!
a good site that helped me: http://www.jeanneau-owners2.com/hintsandtips/id130.htm
