Purchased my first Day Sailor last summer. I had been sailing with my father in law on lake Michigan on a 28 Irwin and needed a boat of my own when this boat became available through a friend at work. WHAT A GREAT LITTLE BOAT! Sails like a big boat. I do however want to make some improvements including a furling for the head sail in addition to a topping lift for the boom to make the boat a little more "Single Handed" and easier for me to teach the kids. I would love to have some imput from some other owners that have purchased headsail furlings, what they purchased and how does it or doesn't it work for you. Thank You

The furler I use is an old laser spinner. Its not ideal, but does the job. I have to release some tension on the jib halyard for it to furl and unfurl without twisting, but other than that it works fine. All lines are led aft. I use a parachute shroud cord for my topping lift. The link below has three pages of pictures that I have uploaded, many of which facilitate single handing. Let me know if I can be of any other assistance as you work on this great little boat.

FURLING HEAD SAILS

We use a Harken samll boar furler on our Mariner with a 150% genoa and have really liked it. I attached a link of the product from West Marine's web-site. Hope this helps.
