Furling jib

Yesterday I hoisted my new furling jib. It took quite a bit of cranking with the winch to complete the process. Is there a special lubricant that I should have used to make the process go smoother?
Thank you,
Tom

It took quite a bit of cranking with the winch to complete the process.......that is typical of my experience also, especially the last few feet. Hopefully the sailmaker installed the correct luff tape for your furler's extrusion. Might consider sailkote dry lubricant on the sail luff tape as it is fed into the forestay extrusion. Nice video on hoisting a jib sail which may or may not be helpful: 141) Hoisting a Furling Jib | Sail Fanatics - YouTube.

+1 for Sailkote. Wonderful stuff. Also make sure you’ve got the luff tape entering the groove at a good angle. A pre-feeder can help with that.

Sail kote and someone not just "feeding" the luff tape but helping it as well. Should fairly easy the first half to about two thirds, by then not much lube left on top. Need to give it a shot of lube every pull. And it helps to run a swab up and down cleaning the track and then pre-lubing
