Can any one tell me if the CDI FF2 Flex Furling fits with the stock forestay and turnbuckles that are rigged with the 1994 Hunter 23.5, the Hunter Chandlery calls for the FF2 model with the specifics of HD=5/32-in, HL=27-ft 4 1/2-in, TB=1/4-in. Are these easy fits and will there be additional work when frequently rigging the boat compared to the standard forestay?

Furling Fun

I bought my '95 23.5 with the FF2 installed. CDI instructions show forestay requirements are a) toggles at both ends. b) turnbuckle with a 1/4" or 5/16" diameter stud and forged T-bolt and toggle. Their drawings don't show a toggle at the top of the forestay and, come to think of it, mine doesn't have one either! Your jib must be modified for furling and, if a sunbrella shield is attached, you can leave the jib on while trailoring. Also 2 small fairlead pulleys and a bullseye/cleat will handle your furling pennant. I believe the 34' of 3/16" dacron braid specified in the owners manual is enough for furling. Roller furling is a nice addition to the boat. I hope this helps.
