Furlex direction of rotation

My Hunter 310 headsail has the UV protection on the port side(as all Hunters do), however that requires the furling drum to rotate in the opposite direction of what is required in the fulring installation instructions. I called Hunter but they didn't have any explanation other than saying that all their boats are rigged that way. Since I'm about to buy a new headsail, I wanted to know if I should put the UV protection on the starboard side and have the furlex rotate in the direction recommended in the installation instructions...or is there any other reason why it should be rotation against furlex factory recommendations. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks, Lee

My Furlex

Lee, My Furlex works either way so when I ordered a new jib I had the UV strip put on the starboard side of the sail because the furling line leads onto the drum better that way. All this was over a year ago and everything is just fine.

I think that they mean the cover sewn

onto the leading edge of the sail which is left exposed when you furl the sail.
