Now that Sailing Weather is really here we are starting to find the things that don't work!! I have the original CDI furler and the cam cleat that is supposed to hold the continuous line is getting pretty worn and with the sail rolled in a turn or so and sheeted in for a close haul, it lets go. It is located on the port side stern railing at the point where the top rail slopes down to meet the middle rail. The cleat sits on its side. It seems to me that this is not the best location - altho it probably has served for a lot of years. Has any one relocated the cleat, changed types, or otherwise improved on this setup. It seems that I am going to have to buy a whole new cleat so this is the time to change for a better set up. Love this summer weather- finally!!

continuous line furling

I had a continuous line Hood furler and changed to single line as a $500 modification. Rather than a cam cleat, either use a rope clutch, such as Spinlock, or a traditional deck cleat and tie off the line.
