Funny how that works...

I learned something today. I learned that my outboard motor cranks better if I push the start button instead of the kill button. The kill button will NOT start the motor regardless of how strong the battery is. Or how hard I push it.

Our outboard is nicknamed "60", 'cuz it used to take 60 pulls to get it started. Turned out the kill switch wires under the hood were messed up. Fixed it. With a frog!

Having the jib halyard wrapped up in a neat bundle does not prevent it from climbing to the top of the mast, still neatly bundled, in the event that I uncleat it to lower the headsail.
I assume it's a design flaw.

I wrap my halyard once around the mast and pull it tight to keep it from banging and have forgotten to unwrap it before hauling the main up. I am learning to look up if I feel the line getting tight before I jam it under the shroud.
It's sunny and breezy here in DC, which makes the need to get out worse. :snooze:

Ripped out all the cabinetry around my holding tank loooking for the leak of brown stuff in the bilge. Couldn't find it; marine technician comes aboard, takes one look and says its not pooh, its diesel goo (leak).

Don't feel bad. Sunday before the NFL games I made me a pitcher of bloody marys. Instead of grabbing my V8 Spicy juice out of the fridge, I grabbed the Prego spaghetti sauce. I thought it was coming out unusually thick. I thought the V8 went bad. Chock up another senior moment :)

Considering that the V8 is in a can or a bottle and spaghetti sauce is in a jar, that took real talent! :)

I'd prob'ly just added more tomato juice and called 'em Bloody Marias.

While sailing from North Sound to Anegada last year, I put a new crew member on the helm aboard Jacomina H...and then set the autopilot without his inform, although cluing the rest of the crew on the tactic. He did great, until I suggested we tack towards deeper water as we approached land. Chaos ensued...it was very funny...I only wish I had captured video!

I planned on deleting this video...Saturday, I learned you need to push the neutral knob back in after warming up the engine, If only you could see the look on my face as I was throttling up in reverse. Not as tragic as messing up a bloody mary..., but for those who are snowed in, some of us were sailing last weekend.

Do not forget to reconnect the cooling water inlet hose to the seacock before launch.

Connect the gas line to the outboard AND the tank. Engine runs much better with fuel.
