For those of you in the Puget Sound region there are some opportunities to do some fun dinghy racing. These events are pretty informal and being under 10 feet in length is the only qualification, other than the Minto Mingle, which is specific to just Minto sailing dinghies. The first night of the May Gig Harbor series got off to a good start last week with about a dozen entries in the dinghy class.
Here is a short list of planned events. If your local yacht club or organization is hosting similar events please add to the list.
Gig Harbor: The Gig Harbor Yacht Club conducts Laser and dinghy (10 feet and under) races Thursday evenings during the Month of May. Be on the water in front of Arabella's by 6pm to register. Races begin at 6:30pm. Participation is open to the public. Registration is $5 for the series.
Kitsap Harbor Festival (Bremerton/Port Orchard): The KHF will be conducting Laser and dinghy (10 feet and under) races the afternoon of Saturday 23 May from the Port Orchard side of Sinclair Inlet. See www.KitsapCup.com for more information.
Minto Mingle: The Three Tree Point Yacht Club will be hosting the annual Minto Mingle 19-21 June at the Dockton Park on Vashon Island. Participation in the Minto Mingle is open to the public as long as you have a Minto to sail. The 2008 races had 18 participants. See www.ttpyc.org for more information.
