Has anyone installed a racor gas/water separator in a Catalina 30. there isn't much room for it under the galley cabinet. especially if i want to drain it or change the filter some time. thanks

Yes I did

I have the Racor model 120 for my Yanmar YSB12. My C30 is a 1977 TRB. Hull # 593 .It was installed by the PO. It is located under the sink cabinet and yes, it is difficult to work on. I removed it from the mount and was able to work on it. I hope ot fashion a different bracket so it is more accessable. Good luck with the filter. It does a good job.

Easiest Place to Install

Okay, the dinette table is stowed on the bulhead or in my case with the full dinette, the table taken off and stowed on the quarterberth and you now have access to the engine after you removed the cushion and the long engine access cover. Looking down you see the engine to the left, the water pump and lines to the right and a nice space to mount the Racor unit between the two. My Racor is installed about a foot to the right of the engine panel where you access the water pump (bottom) and a few inches below the top of the seat bench. Two stainless bolts and its in with easy access to change the filter. I wished I could add a photo as the access is so easy for inspection and change out. Going under the galley is a tough call for one of these. Go from the dinette area first. Lots of opinions by the way whether to got with the 2 or 10 micron filter size. My mechanic insists on the 10 micron! Bob '88 Mark II 30
