For some reason I am having trouble locally finding a 6 gallon fuel tank that will fit into the existing space on my Oday 23. I am sure others of you have run into this before so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Check out your local Evinrude dealer and ask him if he has any 6 gallon plastic tanks manufactured by "Dura-Tank." If they are still available, they will fit in O'Day fuel compartments which were probably designed for the old 6 gallon metal gasoline tanks. The last one that I bought didn't have a gauge, but it was pretty reasonably priced.

The fuel storage locker on the Oday 23 MkII (post 1977) was made to fit the old metal 6 gallon tanks as Joe said. The new six gallon plastic tanks (or at least the ones sold by West Marine) seem to be be just a tad too tall or too wide. I have been using the three gallon tank that came with my new outboard. Please let us know if you find a six gallon tank that fits.
Jim, I bought a 6galon plastic tank last year. It was the tempo 6gallon tank. It has to be the regular tank and not the ultra which is slightly larger. I bought mine at west but I donot know if they can still get them.
