Past experienc with a Cat30 (hull 3952)found me without engine because Catalina Yachts placed a screen on the fuel pickup tupe insdie the diesel fuel tank. No mention was ever mentioned in the manual and I found it the hard way. Losing my engine while short handing a transit in rough weather. My question which hasn't yet been answered is: Is this still a standard assembly prodedure and should we be aware of this potential crisis? I believe this could apply to all models.

Pickup Screens
Dale Pickup screens were discontinued many years ago by Catalina, even they got the idea. Your concern is nothing new, however, and I would venture to guess that most new owners of PO boats have many resources to find out about their new boats. Before we purchased our C34 in 1998, we did a lot of research on the linked website, which is searchable. The C30 site is also very good. The engines on the 30s and 34s are the same, so you can find out a lot on these sites, in addition to pickup screens (like alternator brackets, fuel pump and filter installation order, etc.)
