I have a fuel leak into my bilge. I may have to take out the fuel tank. Has anyone evry had to do this? If so do you have any tips? Will it come out in one piece? And any ideas on how to drain it?

Dom,

The easiest way I found to drain the tank is to use the fuel pump. Do you have a 2QM15 of YSM12? The tank should come out the Stbd lazzaret. This will be a great time to replace the plywood under the tank also. You might want to move this post to the Cherebuni Hunters forum. Pat

Hard part/Easy Part

Draining the tank will probably be the hard part. You will need a manual or electric fuel transfer pump to get most of the fuel out. On the 1980 vintage H30's there is a panel on the cockpit sole that can be removed to give access to the batteries and fuel tank. If you don't have the panel you will have to remove the tank through the lazarette. The tank is held down on a plywood shelf by two metal straps. You will have to cut the straps and find a method to hold the new tank in place. There was a recent discussion on this topic, so try the Archives. Replacing the plywood shelf is probably not a bad idea.

Removing tank

on my 76 h30 with yse12, I had to remove the cooling manifold (square thing on top of engine) and I was able to get the tank out over the top of the engine. Good luck
