I spent the last couple of weekends chasing fuel leaks on the engine. Now my attention turns to the leaky fuel tank. Access to it sucks. Mine is located behind a glassed in bulk head in the aft cabin. I cut a hole in the bulk head two years ago to replace both fuel lines. Peaking through that hole I discover my aluminum tank has welded-on "L" brackets (also aluminum) at each corner for mounting it down. The closest bracket and the only one I can see at the moment seems to be weeping fuel from behind it. I've pumped out the tank and flushed it with kerosene to remove any foreign crap from inside. Access from the fuel gauge on top provides about a 1-1/2" hole. I can't see much. Now what? J-B Weld? Spray in liner? I can't actually see a hole. Perhaps grind off the bracket and hope to find the hole. It was leaking an ounce or so per week with a full tank. I'm hoping not cut the huge hole needed to remove the entire tank but will do what's needed. I don't even know if the tank can fit out the cabin door.
Anyone been down this road?
