Fuel tank gauge

Has anyone had a problem with a fuel tank gauge not registering immediately after refueling. After the tank was nearly emptied, I refueled and the gauge registered FULL. In August 2002, the next time out and ever since it has never worked again.Any ideas on how to repair ?

more likely need replacing

first check your electrical connections, if ok, remove the sending unit from the tank and check it out for build up and corrosion and connections. hook the wires back up from the gauge (be sure unit is grounded) and move arm up and down should produce an indication on your gauge. if no go probably need a new (matched) sending unit. good luck.
