Hi since i've changed the the fuel tank sensor, it has been leakin ever since when i fill it up even though i did replace the gasket for a new one. the bolts are real thigh but the fuel will slowly make his way out. I tried silicone but it won't work . it is gotta be something to put on to make it fuelproof.
When it took the old gasket out, there was something sticky on it but i do not what it is . thankls

One of the Best Sealants is .............................

..................... Permatex 2. This material remains permanently soft and is widely used in the petroleum industry. I've used it without a gasket to seal a SS inspection plate to the polyethylene fuel tank. There's very little that Permatex won't stick to.

Ralph's advise is right on but I am adding 1 more thought.
If you over tighten a gasket it crushes and will often leak or seep. Adding a sealing compound will help stop leaks but it too must not be over tighened. Firmly snugged up is enough
Many times Permatex 2 can be used without a gasket. A round bead of slightly less than 1/4 inch will form a seal. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and then tighten.
