The gage for my fuel tank is pegging from full to empty. I put a meter on it at the tank, turn on the ignition and the electricity coming from the tank is wildly fluctuating. I see no name brand on the fuel indicator. Is there a way to fix this or do I need to replace it? How do you know what to replace it with?

It sounds to me like you have a bad connection. Check the voltage on both sides of the meter (power to the meter and power to the sender) and see if you get the wild fluctuations. What you is your boat? My 310 was built in 1997 and has a Teleflex gage and sender. They are available from either Boat US or West Marine.

On my 1995 336 the fuel gauge was not working and the sending unit was made by Prime Instruments in Cleveland, OH. The phone number is 216 651 0400 with a cost shipped of $27.50. Good luck. Nathan Clark S/V Brothers' Dream II
