I've decided to replace the metal 6 gallon fuel tank on my '86 H23. The problem is the size of the new ones. Can y'all tell me what brand and capacity plastic-type fuel tank you use? Most are a little too large for the locker provided. I found a 6-gallon tank that is only 1/4" too long. I can force it in but it doesn't go to the bottom. I really hate forcing things. On the other hand, "If it doesn't fit, use a bigger hammer..."

Thanks!

I have the original (I think 5 gall?) plastic can that came with the 8HP Honda that in turn came with my boat when I bought it used. Maybe your engine manufacturer has one that will fit?

I bought a 3 gallon tank at Academy Sports and Outdoors. Fits great and since I don't have to motor much it would last most of the year.

I'm actually thinking about the 3 gallon tank. Would help keep moisture out since I would have to refill it more often.

Thanks!

My motor came with a 4.5 gallon tank. I carry a small 3 gallon reserve. This year, for the full season, I used just 4 gallons. That's a couple of gallons lower than my average.

I find that if I keep it topped off I really don't need much more for the day sailing we do.

Three gallon at Acadamy here. Works great for my use. I put one gallon at a time in to keep it fresh. Just put my third gallon in this year with the marine stabil

What's wrong with the one you got? If it's just ugly, they are pretty easy to strip down and re-paint all nice and pretty.

Cheers,
Brad

PS: Sorry I can't help on the size.. every outboard I have has a built in tank

Just bought a new motor that came with a 3 gallon tank. Fits perfectly there under the starboard seat. I can't imagine why anyone with an h23 on a lake would need more than 3 gallons. I'd never carried more than a gallon until I got the new motor.
