I discovered that our Catalina 30's fuel tank feed tube does not extend all the way to the bottom of the tank. The tank needs at least 5 gallons before reaching the tube end. Is this typical or was there a hose on the end to reach the bottom that has apparently fallen off and not in sight when looking into the tank?

Mine has a hose on the pickup tube. Ends up about one inch from the bottom of the tank. BTW, good time to pump the crud from the bottom of the tank. And when installing the pickup tube, don't get it too tight. The tank fitting is aluminum and strips easily.
