I just experienced running out of diesel. Not pretty. I am in the process of changing all my filters. One is on back order. I have searched the manual and diagrams that are posted on the Morgan 41 site trying to find what they want when you switch from your main tank. What I did (which didn't work) was leave one handle in the engine room on to the main tank and switched the other to the spare tank thinking that would let the spare tank drain into the main tank. With no luck, as stated earlier I still ran out of go juice. I see that they recommend that you use a stick to check how much fuel you have. What do you use to check the main tank? Fuel line has too many bends. I have a 1983 OI ketch. Thanks Greg

Fuel guage stick

Here's the response that I received three months ago after asking the same question. I notched a green plastic, four foot, plant support rod for my guage. Submitted by Cap'n Larry on 05/17/2005 at 09:31AM regarding Morgan 415 I have a 1977 Morgan OI 415. The fuel dipstick it came with measures 48". My fuel tank is 135 gallons. (I found this out the hard way - the sales brochure said 175 - for the correct information I paid dearly, both monetarily and in personal embarrassment - but that's another story.) It has marks (measuring from the bottom at 12 5/8" inches - representing, I have always assumed 1/4 full. At 22" representing, again the assumption, half full. At 30" probably 3/4 full. I have added one at 3 1/8" from the bottom which is 5 gallons and one at 5 3/4" which is 10 gallons. I know these to be correct - reference previously mentioned embarrassing story.
