Sept 30 2006Dear All,This has been a great summer of adventure and learning. I now know more about Yanmar Diesels than I ever thought I would. What ahs happened repeatedly though is thatb as we get rolling a bit and the fuel gets down to about 1/2 we will suck in dirt, air and H2O and then the engine fails. We have been given a few choices as to how to remedy the probs and are trying to get feedback. One has been to suction out the bottom, another has been to steam clean after draining others along the same line include a new 2 piece tank and or a bladder system. We think the tank is 15 US gallons. What are peoples thoughts? Is the fix simple? Should I get a Marine Mechanic to fix it? Also the Pre-filter/seperator has a small diesel leak that a couple of wraps of teflon tape has only slowed the problem (the bottom nut is leaking). Any thoughts as to how to solve that problem? Also while I am at it has any one ever seen or would know where to purchase a drop in filter at the fuel opening to slow/prevent the ineveitable drops of H2O that fall in as well as bits of dirt and dust?Crew Member Kevin (kwcoffin@hotmail.com)
