I have a new to me H31 that I'm doing the seasonal maintenance on. Tomorrow I'm looking at replacing the fuel filters on the Racor and Yanmar, I noticed that there isn't a fuel shutoff directly upstream of the Racor. Not sure why there isn't so I'll assume cost cutting. The engineering drawings show one at the fuel tank but I'm not at the boat to verify. Can anyone confirm that there is one at the tank? I'm 90 minutes each way from the boat.
If not, I'm not sure what to do as it's a gravity fed system and I have a full tank. I've seen lots of people suggesting to just use hose pinch pliers and just as many not to due to stress on the hose. I called Racor and they stated that if there is head pressure the unit will leak if the element is removed as there is not internal shutoff.
