I've have an electric fuel pump between the tank and injector pump. It recently failed (torn diaphram) and I could not locate one just like it. I think it was a carter, it had an aluminum case with what looked like a bowl and the inlet and outlet located on top opposing each other. The only replacement I could find was one that looked like a inline fuel filter with a cadium plated case. Has anyone used one of these, or had any problems with them?

lift pump

the lift pump is not standard on yse 12, as the fuel tank is above the engine. mine had a auto unit installed in it when i bought it -- which was quickly taken out. I am interesed also to see Torresen's response on this, in that I am considering the installation of a lift pump. I was told that any pump suitable to the fuel that can be dead headed, and not operate over 40 psi would be suitable. terry

Fuel lift pump

Just about any electric fuel pump compatible with diesel fuel will do the job, especially with a high fuel tank. The more exotic ones will not be prone to rust. The output pressure should be in the 2 to 5 PSI range. You basically need it to start a siphon in your Hunter 30 application. Yanmar does call out a replacement fuel pump for the YSE, P/N 124790-55201 at a cost of $202.73.
