I have a 9.9 Evinrude 1997 (E10FRELEUA) motor. On two occasions my motor would run for only two or three minutes without having to pump the bulb to keep it running. In both cases I bought a repair kit only to find that when I opened the pump I found that the small springs in the check valve came out of their hole along with the disk and container cap. This happen to both check valves in both pumps 4 years apart. I was able put the components back but was afraid to use the pumps again for fear the same thing would result. I purchase another fuel pump this time and was wondering if it is something I am doing or is it a poor design?? I have a sailboat so in 4 years the motor doesn't get much use except when the wind quits. Anybody have similar experience with the fuel pump with the following number (0435352) ??

Pardon my bias but its been my experience.....
I had an Evinrude once about 35 years ago, would only run when it was in a garbage can.:cussing:Before that had a Johnson it would not run at all! Then there was two British seagulls on two different boats, Very basic model "T" type motor but way more dependable. You would have loved their owners manual .... Now a days, well for the last 23 years at least its been a Nissan... Very dependable very low maintenance and runs like banshee !!!
Dinghy's may come and go but the same Nissan outboard we keep !
