Specifically looking for owners of C 36, hull numbers 1235 thur 1255. Hoping that one or more owners would please go to the fuel pump mounted on your Universal M35, then trace BACK the purple wire to its source. When breaking up a raft on the Ches. Bay last week, my engine (hull # 1245) started and shut down three times. A bunch of engineer and mechanic type guys crawled around, experimented with fuel filters, etc. and found that the purple wire from the fuel filter ran back toward a terminal block, suspended over the transmission area, BUT WAS HANGING LOOSE! We could not figure out where it goes. Our solution was to run a wire directly from the ignition switch (where we found the cut stub of a purple wire) to the purple wire connected to the fuel pump. No one in Catalina, Seaward Products or Westebeke has yet been able to tell me where the fuel pump picks up its power. Please trace your purple wire and let me know Brian Giersch Catalina 36. #1245 bdgiersch@erols.com

Fuel Pump Power Source

It could either be the ingition switch or the positve terminal on the starter solenoid. In the "on" position, the pump is running. When the ignition switch is "off", so is pump. Double-check your wiring harness and make sure the wiring is adequately bundled and secured out-of-harm's way.
