I've read past posts about substituting a Universal electric diesel fuel pump for my Universal M25XP avail. from NAPA for under a hundred bucks instead of the ridiculously expensive one from Catalina Direct at more than $300. but nowhere can I get info on what pump to buy. NAPA has two low pressure pumps, one that's 2-4 gph and the other that's 7-9 gph.
I called Catalina Direct and spoke to their Tech Support but was told the box doesn't say and they don't know! Anyone have the answer?
Also the one I have that I'm replacing is in the center of the boat in the engine compartment (a Mk 1 Catalina 30) well away from the tank next to the Fuel/Water filter. I have been advised that the pump actually is better near and below the tank, if possible. Ideas?
As always, Thanks.

On my boat I have a Westbake pump part number 39275. The Facet equivalent pump is part number 40185n.
