Has anybody removed the pickup tube from the O'Day 39. What is involved? I have female elbow at the top of the tank, beyond that I don't know what. I'm hoping the pickup tube is not permanently fixed. Please advise I want to remove the screen that I believe is on the tube and allow the the primary fuel filter which is much easier to service do the job of removing water and sediment. My 1983 O'Day 39 ran slow and died on me in rough water. After sitting a while it started again and seemed ok at lower RPM's, but it would bog down and die as I increased engine speed. I'm guessing that there is a screen on the pickup tube that is getting clogged when rough seas stir up sediment and the greater suction of higher speeds grabs the particles. Any thoughts other thougts on this.P.S. I'm also planning on pumping out all the existing fuel..and flushing as thouroughly as I can.
