I own a Hunter 84 31 foot witha Yanmar 2GMF diesel. I have read the posts on the fuel pickup tube and am still confused as to how you get it out of the tank. The question is what screw do you un screw?? The fuel line is attached to a shut off value that is attached to a screw that is square in shape that is attached to another screw that is attached to the tank itself. Do you unscrew the screw that is attached to the tank or the square screw that is attached to the shut off valve? Does this make any sense Thanks again for the help. Mechanically uninclined Richard

Just did mine

1.)Turn off fuel and disconnect the fuel line to the filter. 2.)Remove shut off valve. On my boat the valve is up against the bulkhead and had to be removed. 3.) The cube shaped fitting that is left is threaded into the tank when you unscrew this you can then pull the pick up tube out of the tank

Remaining confused.

I am sure the boats are all different, especially as compared to my H37C. My shutoff valve and pickup are mounted on the side of the tank, not through the top. Is the H31 this way? Then it looks to me that the whole assembly would fall into the tank if you removed the fitting and the nut behind it. I plan to cut a big hole on top first. Then I can retrieve it when it falls in. And I'll have a better cleanout port.

Screen or no screen

Frank, Was there a screen on the end of the tube?

screen

The Screen was about an inch up the inside of the tube.
