Fuel line size

Finishing replacing all the engine hoses, I am at the fuel lines now. I am relocating the racor fuel filter and fixing the tank shut off valve (frozen), I have a 3/8 hose with flared fittings (AN fittings?) from the petcock to the Racor filter and a 1/4 barb fitting with 1/4 hose from the Racor filter to the pump. The 3/8 line may be original. It has many rub marks from the stringer and is cracked. I have plenty of new 1/4 marine fuel hose. Can I run straight 1/4 from the petcock to the filter and then to the engine. I assume it will have enough flow since I already had that size from the filter to the pump. Any problems with my solution?

Pretty sure that all my fuel hose to the 3YM30 is 1/4" i.d.

I just replaced mine on a 3GM30F and they were all 1/4 including the return line to the tank. I also installed a squeeze bulb to help bleed the system. Works great!

1/4" line is fine. the hard lines coming off the injector pump are only 1'8". I doubt the flare fittings are A/N. Most flare fittings are a different angle that A/N fittings. This I learned the hard way when I built my airplane.

Where did you put the bulb. Between the tank and secondary. Filter or between. The secondary. And the primary on the engine?

I always forget what the secondary and primary are. I would call the Racor the primary and my squeeze bulb is just before that (after the fuel tank). Like Jeff says...it works great.

Jose:

Be sure to use the proper hose on the fuel system (either A1-15 or B1-15). With the changes that are being made to the fuel (along with bio-fuel) you don't want any leaks or breakdown in the hose. Do it once and do it right the first time.

My squeeze bulb is right next to the Racor on the input side.

Or install a 3YM30 and never bleed again! Sorry, couldn't pass that up. :)

That is a ditto on the JH motor. It was a nice suprise when I purchased the new boat.
