Primary and secondary

You should have two filters. The in-line primary coming from your fuel tank. Depending on what you have- this could be the original where you open the top and remove the cartridge or a upgrade replacement with a raycor spin-on. The secondary filter is behind the water pump. 1. Turn off the valve from the fuel tank. 2. Determine primary filter and unscrew. Remove and replace element. Wipe inside with clean towel leaving no residue or fibers from towel. Refill with fresh diesel and replace. 3. Remove side of cabinet to gain access to engine compartment. Unscrew large ring above the secondary filter behind the water pump. Pull out filter and wipe clean. replace the element. make sure this is inserted in the correct direction. closed end goes down. Replace o-ring, fill with fresh diesel and replace by screwing ring back onto filter case. 4. Reopen fuel valve 5. at about 10:00 o'clock on the engine face is a small bleed screw- octagonal head with phillips thread. Slowly open this screw. You will know its the correct screw if you back it out you will see a small hole. expose this hole. 6. You will see a lever below the secondary filter. pump with your index finger untill a steady stream of diesel pumps out the screw. 7. Screw bleed screw back into engine and wipe up oil. 8. Check belts tension while you are here. 9. That's about it. Remember to re-fill filters or you will never bleed system.

10.

I would add to Ian's excellent list... 10. Use a West System plastic syringe to top off the fuel filter cannisters with fuel, and thus you may not have to bleed at all.
