You don't have to bleed the fuel lines after you change the 2ndary fuel filter on a Yanmar 2GM-F, do you? Thank you in advance, WD

No

If you fill the filter with fuel before putting it back on you should not need to bleed either filter that's what I have done and never needed to bleed. Don't forget to turn off the tank shutoff value and turn back on. What boat model and year do you have. Nick

On Fuel tank

My shutoff was on the fuel tank just as it comes out of the fuel tank. Nick

As Seadaddler said...

it is required to be at the fuel tank pick-up point.

Thank you for the replies. Sorry for the late response, but this is the first chance I've had to respond. I have a H-31. Why do you have to shut off the fuel valve? Do you mean the stop engine cable on the instrument panel? I'm guessing not by Seadaddler and Dan Johnson's responses. If it is on the tank, I guess I'll be jumping in my cockpit locker. Thanks, WD

Dawg...

the engine shut off wouldn't stop fuel from flowing if a fuel line hose cracked or a connector developed a leak. Hence a small metal valve lever that looks like a pointer where the fuel line connects the tank to the engine (the one without the valve is the return line). Turning the lever 90 degrees to the fuel line cuts off the fuel.

Thank you for the information Dan. I will probably be taking on this task either tomorrow or Saturday. WD
