My 2003 fuel gauge off a bit so when fueled first time had slight spill.
Herrington Maine Technologies has device that fits on fuel line vent.
Cut vent install line on each end of "box" hook up to power led to
on deck plate with light and has buzzer. When fuel fills tank and backs
up into vent line lights and buzzer go off. At about
$ 127.00 bucks ( 1 1/4 boat units) might be good to have. Am away
from boat. Are our fuel vent lines fairly easy to get to with place to
secure small "box."?

The fuel vent line is fairly easy to get to in the steerage compartment. I had to check mine to eliminate some pinch points and dips that were holding liquid fuel and blocking the vent. Catalina could have taken a lot more care in routing the vent line. My fill alarm is called "Kathy". She leans over the transom while I fill the tank, and when the air coming out the vent starts rushing out, we know the tank is full. Some companies sell a whistle that does the same thing.

Beware, this vent line is prone to be a conduit for water to get in the tank. There is no drip loop. I installed a glass bottle to monitor, and have found water in the the bottle. Easy to do when washing your boat with a hose.

After 68 years "investing" money on boats - first boat when 16 now 84 - thought could
convince my late wife that boats appreciate and therefore wise investment. Darn where did
I leave my medication?

Well that makes sense when you started boating a boat buck was about $10.00 where has all the money gone. One positive note on our C-310's the are doing a great job of holding value. I am sure my wife will not let me pull my 401k at retirement to invest in a larger boat...

Pictures of fuel vent line.

Paul, I have said it before and will say it again - you have the best collection of photos for the 310 - you could illustrate your own manual on these boats. Not sure how you get some of these shots even? Do you have a library, or just easy access to get to your boat and take photos when needed?

Racor Lifeguard Fuel/Air Seperator Model LG100 works very well it has a float that shuts off the vent preventing fuel discharge out the vent.

I've been using one for 18 or so years on my Grady SF and have never had a spill out of the vent.

Defender has them p/n301064
