I did a 40 knotical mile trip under power this weekend.(frenchmans bay to Port Dalousie).......at 2500 RPM in a 430 hunter .........flat water, no wind approx 6 kt per hour....took 6.5 hours and I burned 33 liters (.825 liters per knot mile)........

is this about right or am I burning too much
no oil was used, the engine has 5900 hours...

thanks

Sounds a little bit high for those conditions but is the bottom and the propeller clean?? Speed from GPS ? Any current in the lake there? no fishing line in the propeller??
I would guess for those conditions more like 4.2 -4.5 liters per hour instead of 5.. but 5 could be easily a dirty prop and bottom, possible exhaust ell pluggage, towing a dink, plugged air cleaner. engine valves needing to be set, proop pitch a bit high .... a bunch of things.. Does not sound serious, just something that you might want to tend to sometime.

I have a lot of motor boat friends who would kill to have a consumption of a gallon per hour at cruise speed!!
