I have a small fuel drip on my Yanmar. Already replaced banjo fitting. I think fuel pump is leaking (small bead at gasket seam). Should I remove fuel pump, tighten and replace or obtain new fuel pump. Boat is 10 years old. Is changing or removing the fuel pump tricky? Thanks.

Another possibility

Had a similar problem with my 2GM and it turned out to be a small leak at the filter bleed screw that ran down the fuel line and looked like it was coming from the pump. Easily solved with a new bleed screw washer - be real careful not to overtighten or it will strip the threads in the filter case. Worth checking before you mess with pump.

copper washers

Replace the copper washers every time, whether they appear worn or not. And check for fuel leaks at every speed: some do not show up until the engine is rev'd up. and tighten all those hose clamp fittings too. if you have a buddy, have him/her check everything you did. The routine is not unlike a term paper: everybody who reviews it will find one more error! joe
